Meaning of Christmas

What does Christmas mean to you? To some Christmas may mean waiting in long lines, or paying bills come January; or being sure to send a Christmas card to everyone from whom one was received. Still, for others, Christmas may mean a time for a family to get together. A family dinner of turkey and grave: a time to give and receive. And for many, it is a time to thank God for His greatest gift to mankind, Jesus Christ. Christmas, the birth of Christ, was decreed by God and the ultimate demonstration of His love for all humanity; the supreme gift that He gave-His only begotten Son. Nothing greater can God do for anyone. No wonder the angel of the Lord proclaimed, "Fear not: for, behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2; 10-11). "Even though God had been telling the world for hundreds of years, through the prophets, that the Savior would be born, few were waiting in anticipation of that great event that would forever change the world." You may ask who needs a Savior? Or does everyone need a Savior? The Bible declares all have sinned since Adam was created by God and provided a perfect environment and given a free will to follow God's plan or do his own thing. You know what happened, Adam chose his own way and as a result all of mankind has suffered the consequences of that fateful decision. So over two-thousands years ago, in the fullness of God's time, Christ was born. Christ was born to provide a way back to god, to restore fellowship and communion, to reconcile man to God; and give eternal life to all who accept. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Christ is no longer the Babe in Bethlehem, He is the risen Lord-the Lord of all creation. He said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth in believeth in me shall never die" (John 11:25-26 portion of). To believe means to accept and apply to your life what the Bible teaches about Christ. Every person is accountable to God. Only through Christ can access to God be obtained, no plan devised by man will do. Everyone in confronted with the question of: What will I decide about Christ? So this Christmas as you celebrate, the challenge to you is to ask yourself: What does Christmas mean to me? Is Christ who the Bible claims that He is? What is my response? Acquaint yourself with the Christ of Christmas now, and you life will forever be changed-a change in you that you will never regret. May this be the best Christmas ever for you!
