Local attorney receives appointment

COLUMBUS --- Local attorney Karl Kerschner has been appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to serve on the Ohio Elections Committee. The committee, Kerschner said, is comprised of seven members, an executive director and a commission assistant, and receives complaints and referrals from the boards of elections of all 88 counties in Ohio, in addition to those brought forward by the general public, The committee is tasked with hearing cases and issuing decisions concerning Ohio's campaign finance laws. "As a commission member, I will be responsible for enforcing Ohio's campaign finance laws and fair campaign practices throughout the state of Ohio," Kerschner said. "My experience in litigation, corporate representation and governmental client representation will be helpful assets," he said. Kerchner, who previously was managing partner of Meyer & Kerschner, Ltd., of Tiffin, now is CEO and Partner of Cooper Elliott, a law firm with offices in Columbus and Cincinnati. Cooper Elliot, he says, provides "legal representation to individuals and families in areas such as catastrophic injury, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and complex business litigation." Kerschner received the five-year appointment in February 2024, and said he is honored by the appointment. "I'm grateful to the governor and the Ohio senate for their confidence in appointing me to this position," he said. Kerschner resides in Tiffin with his wife, Amy, and their two children. In addition to his work with the committee and Cooper Elliott, he continues to serve as corporate legal council for Reineke Family Dealerships.
