North Central Area Transit receives grant

TIFFN- The North Central Area Transit (NCAT) was awarded more than $1.5 million in grant awards from the Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership (OWMP). The grant money will be used for a new bus shelter, bus storage, and wash facility design, Huron County administration and garage rehab, 3 replacement vehicles, operating expenses, maintenance, and bus equipment. "We're excited to invest these grant dollars in Seneca, Crawford, and Huron counties," Mary Habig NCAT executive director said. "These important capital and operational projects will be able to move forward as we continue to provide safe, reliable public transportation. This grant money makes these projects possible, which will make our operations and services more efficient." Some of the grant money amounts distributed are $19,200 for a new bus shelter, $80,000 for bus storage and wash facility design, $270,060 for Huron County administration and garage rehab, and $1,010,779 for operating expenses. NCAT will also use some of the expenses to design a state-of-the-art "green" vehicle storage and bus wash facility. Some of the projects have already begun, and additional vehicles will be purchased soon. NCAT will be able to provide more efficient services to its clients while continuing to provide reliable transportation for these rural areas.
