Mercy Health leaders named recognized

TIFFIN — Two Mercy Health leaders within the region have recently been named to Becker's Hospital Review 2024 edition of its "Rural hospital and health system CEOs to know" list. This recognition honors executives who wear many hats and are deeply committed to improving their communities. These individuals were recognized for their leadership and contributions that are essential to the successes of the rural hospitals they helm. Andrew Morgan, president, Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and Mercy Health – Willard Hospital and Sonya Selhorst, president, Mercy Health – Defiance Hospital, were both among the 110 executives nationwide named to the list. "Rural hospitals have a vital role in our communities, bringing access to health care services for area residents and contributing to the overall economic, social, and physical health of the region. I feel incredibly grateful to lead our teams in Tiffin and Willard who provide exceptional care every day," Morgan said. "It is an honor to be included on this list of incredible rural hospital CEOs." Morgan joined Mercy Health in 2020 and served as the chief financial officer for the Willard, Tiffin and Defiance hospitals as well as Mercy Health Life Flight Network, the health system's air and ground transportation service. In the Fall of 2023, he was named president of the east rural market, which includes Mercy Health – Tiffin and Mercy Health – Willard Hospitals. In the year since assuming the role of president, Morgan has successfully achieved several significant accomplishments including the investment of $3.1 million to expand OB space and services at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. Being named on this national list is well-deserved for both these remarkable leaders." Sonya serves as hospital president and chief nursing officer of the Mercy Health – Defiance campus. She has worked with the Mercy Health system for more than three decades, serving in a leadership role at Mercy Health – Defiance campus since 2012. Under Sonya's strong leadership, Mercy Health – Defiance has received numerous accolades and recognitions over the years and has forged strong relationships with community partners to extend wellness efforts throughout the region. She is charged with optimizing the utilization and availability of resources – including people, capital, and knowledge – to achieve the objectives of the organization while fostering a culture of trust, high reliability, safety and quality.
