Lawyer permanently disbarred

COLUMBUS — The Board of Professional Conduct of the Supreme Court of Ohio has disbarred an Allen County lawyer from practicing law in Ohio. Amber R. Goodman, 37, of Elida, was sentenced to 30 months in the Ohio Reformatory for Women after she was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Seneca County Common Pleas court in 2022. She was also classified as a tier II sex offender, according to court records. She served nine out of the 30 months and was released early after applying for judicial release, according to court records. Goodman was placed on five years of probation. Goodman's case for permanent disbarment was submitted to the Supreme Court of Ohio in July of last year. "The board recommends that we indefinitely suspend Goodman from the practice of law with no credit for the time she has served under her interim felony suspension," reads the Tuesday opinion. "In addition, the board recommends that notwithstanding the provisions of Gov. Bar R. V(25)(D)(2), Goodman not be permitted to petition for reinstatement to the practice of law until she has successfully completed the five-year term of community control imposed in her criminal case." The crimes occurred in Seneca County in 2019 with a 13-year-old female. The girl reported to her school counselor allegations involving Goodman and her father, and the Fostoria Police Department carried out an investigation.
