Recycle eclipse glasses with OSS provided boxes

The Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District (OSS) will have designated collection boxes for solar eclipse glasses from April 8 to April 18. These boxes will be at various locations throughout different counties, such as local agencies, businesses, and government offices. OSS wants to make the eclipse eco-friendly by providing these boxes for the glasses. OSS staff will assess all glasses, and those in good condition will be donated or recycled. The focus of collecting the glasses is to keep each county free of waste and to leave a positive environmental mark. Tim Hassinger, the communications and outreach specialist at OSS, said in a release, "It's easy to forget the beauty that surrounds us daily, but while we marvel at the total solar eclipse with the moon obscuring the sun over 2500,00 miles away, let's pause to admire our earth and the winders unfolding right in our backyard. As we witness the celestial spectacle above, let's remember to cherish and protect the precious world we call home." Hassinger also mentioned that the idea behind the eclipse boxes was from "Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful," which has a similar program in place.
