Woodland's big bat sparks Warriors

SYCAMORE — Katie Woodland turned in a big day at the plate Saturday, going a combined 7 for 11 with three homers and a double and 11 RBIs to help Mohawk claim a pair of wins.Woodland did her most damage in the 14-7 opening win against Willard, going 4 for 5 with two homers, a double, five runs and six RBIs.She added a 3-for-4 effort with a homer and five RBIs in the second game against Shelby, which the Warriors won 10-9 after pushing two runs across in the bottom of the seventh.Aubrey Gottfried earned the wins in each game for Mohawk (8-1).Gracie Clouse went 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a run against Willard, Emily Brickner singled twice and scored twice, A.J. Chevalier homered and drove in two runs, Gottfried had a double, run and RBI, Mallory Brickner scored twice and singled, Trenna Johnson singled and scored, Josie Granata singled and Summer Hauber scored.Ava Deel took the loss for Willard. H-L starts fast in win over TCHopewell-Loudon had a great start Saturday with a 7-1 lead after two innings over Columbian. In the end, TC made it a little closer, but it was a 10-5 H-L.Kylee Malagon tallied two singles for H-L (13-2), while AnneMarie Berg hit a solo homer, Isabelle Beidelschies singled and drove in two runs, Sidney Brickner tripled and drove in a run and Morgan Hoover singled and drove in a run.Maizie Mellott paced the Tornadoes (2-10) with two singles and two RBIs. Blue Jackets tally 38 runs in two victoriesARCADIA – New Riegel had the bats working Saturday as it tallied 38 runs on 41 hits in two wins Saturday as Seneca East and the Blue Jackets played at Arcadia.NR topped Arcadia 16-0 and then beat Seneca East 22-7.In the game vs. Arcadia, The Blue Jackets (13-1) blew the game open with a 10-run third inning. Freshman pitcher Karsyn Piper twirled a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. At the plate, Maddie Heilman lined three doubled and drove in three runs for the Blue Jackets, while Ava Wensink added a double, two singles and a pair of RBIs, Lizz Walter (2-2B, 3 RBI), Olivia Schalk (2B, RBI), Alayna Schalk (RBI) and Ruthann Baughman all produced two hits. Fliers race away from StartCLYDE — Clyde erupted in the bottom of the fifth for eight runs to turn a close game into a 12-4 win against Toledo Start.Start scored twice in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 4, but the Fliers responded in a big way to power off.Taitum Jeffrey struck out 10 to get the win for Clyde.Karissa Smith, Ella Howey and Mya Stiefel each singled twice and doubled for Clyde. Frankart fuels H-L winBASCOM — Kellen Frankart provided the offense and Caine McDonald kept Seneca East's batters guessing Saturday in Hopewell-Loudon's 7-1 win.Frankart's bases-loaded walk snapped a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third. He also tripled in a run in the fifth inning, doubled in two runs in the sixth for the Chieftains (6-3) and added a run.Cohen Sendelbach and McDonald both scored twice, with Sendelbach lining two singles and McDonald getting one. Sendelbach also stole three bases.Austin Napier singled, Brayden Brickman and Matt Wyman both scored and Jett Pachlhofer drove in a run.McDonald struck out 11 and allowed just three hits and five walks.Aidan Hines suffered the loss for the Tigers (4-8). Redmen rough up RangersNORTHWOOD — Four Bellevue pitchers combined to toss a five-inning no-hitter Saturday in a 19-0 win against Northwood.Drew Dennings earned the win, fanning four over two innings. Dylan Barger, Ike Brown and Grant Woodruff also pitched.While the Rangers couldn't get a hit, Bellevue had no such problem, belting 17.Cody Lindsey doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice, Barger doubled, singled, scored four times and knocked in a run, Kaden Cramer doubled, knocked in two runs and scored twice, and Brown had a double, run and RBI.Cody Lindsey went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and a run, Tyson Baptista had three singles, three runs and two RBIs, Dennings and Daniel Ochenduski both tallied two singles, two runs and two RBIs, and Seth Bova and Sam Doster each scored.
