Destination Seneca County, Tiffin Hospital present check to Tiffin YMCA

TIFFIN-- – Destination Seneca County, in partnership with Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, presented a donation to the Tiffin Community YMCA in support of their backpack program of $6,000. The funds were raised from the Out of the Dark Glow 5K & Fun Run during the Solar Eclipse of the Heart in Seneca County weekend of events. The race saw more than 275 participants representing 10 different states. "We were honored to work with Destination Seneca County and Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital to help make the Eclipse weekend an experience that will be remembered for years to come. Not only were we able to add to the once-in-a-lifetime weekend, but we were also able to raise $6,000 to support our backpack program that helps feed food-insecure children in Tiffin.", said Buster Ardner, president and CEO of the YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin. Since its inception, the YMCA Backpack program has served more than 84,000 meals in the community. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade can opt into the program themselves or be referred by their school to receive food items that they can utilize during the weekends when school-provided food is not available to them. The Tiffin Community YMCA's backpack program directly supports this vision by providing essential resources for children in our community.
