Humane Society annual garage sale set

TIFFIN—The Human Society of Seneca County Animal Shelter holds its 25th annual fundraising garage sale on May 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Seneca County Fairgrounds. "The garage sale proceeds help the Humane Society by providing food, medications, spray-and-neuter, veterinary care, caring for the animals, and anything else we need to keep the shelter running," Michelle Tiell, receptionist at the Humane Society, said. Angie Leonard, the Humane Society's organization manager, added, "These garage sales range $20 - $25,000 each year, but it does vary depending on the year. We have also had the same dedicated volunteers from our community for over five years running the garage sale; we appreciate them and all they do." "We run these fundraisers because we don't receive funding from the state, city, or county; we rely on this money to help fund the Humane Society," said Leonard."Our local community generously provides the items on sale. Typically, we hold two garage sales each year, one in the spring and one in the fall." About two years ago, the Humane Society introduced an exclusive pre-sale event ticket for twenty dollars. It is for early access on Friday, May 10, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The ticket will also be entered into a raffle for a basket from a local business. The Humane Society will accept donations from May 6 through the 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donated items can be dropped off at the fairgrounds.
