Bellevue hospital employee nominated for state award

BELLEVUE — An employee at The Bellevue Hospital was recently nominated for a state award this past week. Deana Vogel, a physical therapist in the hospital's rehabilitation services department, was nominated by the hospital on Wednesday for the Ohio Hospital Association's Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award. Vogel's nomination was announced during an awards ceremony celebrating Hospital Week at the facility. The Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award has been presented annually since 1996 to one Ohio hospital caregiver. The criteria for the award is for someone seen as a positive leader who motivates colleagues while also providing quality service to those in their community. Vogel will be honored as a nominee at the Ohio Hospital Association's Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award recognition dinner in Columbus on Tuesday, June 11. The Bellevue Hospital's president and chief nursing officer, Sara Brokaw, said that Vogel met all of the criteria necessary for a nomination. "Deana has spent her career improving patient's quality of life and caring for them like her own family," Brokaw said. "She is not only an exceptional clinician but a kind and compassionate person. Deana is an absolute gift to our team here at The Bellevue Hospital." Vogel has worked in healthcare for the last 32 years and has been a physical therapist at the hospital since 1994. Vogel's fellow colleague and director of the hospital's rehabilitation services department, Julie Jones, said that Vogel exhibits great compassion for her patients. "When you are her patient, you are her focus," Jones said. "She wants to use every trick up her sleeve and researches ways to get the results needed to improve the health of her patients and the community."
