NCAT offering free in-county trips

TIFFIN- The North Central area transit will be offering free in-county trips for Memorial Day weekend. NCAT recognizes three local community members as part of its Memorial Day remembrance. These men are part of the NCAT team. In Seneca County, today (May 24) will be known as "Ray Day" in honor of Ray Matthews, who served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a volunteer driver for many years and also served on the NCAT board of directors. In Huron County, it will be known as "Reggie Day" in honor of Reginald "Reggie" Jackson. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and became a volunteer driver for Huron County Transit from 2005 to 2023, and joined the NCAT team in January 2024. In Crawford County, it will be known as "Craig Day" in honor of Craig Rarick. He was one of the first drivers for NCAT in Crawford County. Before joining NCAT, he was a social studies and history teacher for 31 years. Even though he was not in the military, he taught generations of students the importance of our military and their service to the country. "We're excited to offer free transportation as part of Memorial Day weekend," said NCAT Executive Director Mary Habig, in a release. "Ray, Reggie, and Craig have been integral members of the NCAT team, and we are proud to honor them and thank them for their years of service to providing public transit."
