Squirrel Doors on display

FREMONT — Twelve creative squirrel doors are hidden on trees throughout Spiegel Grove, an arboretum and estate of President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes, and will be ready for visitors to find through Labor Day, Sept. 2. The 2024 Squirrel Doors program was scheduled to debut during GroveFest, Hayes Presidential's annual free nature event, June 22. Due to good weather, the doors being ready and popular demand, the building & grounds crew put them up early. Through this free program, visitors can either download a squirrel doors map at https://www.rbhayes.org/estate/squirrel-doors/ or pick one up in the museum lobby. The map shows general zones where each door can be found and tells a bit about the squirrels whose "homes" are behind the doors and the trees where the doors are located. Doors were made by Beck Suppliers, Birchard Public Library, Fremont Community Theatre, Mosser Construction, P & S Trailer, Sandusky County Visitors Bureau, The Summer Kitchen, YMCA of Sandusky County and the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums.
