Findlay swimmers pick up wins at Flag City Invite

SUNDAY'S SWIMMING RESULTS Findlay's Noah Halm collected the most points Sunday in the 9-10 girls division, and the Frogs' Jack Zerr did the same in the boys 8 and under group at the 41st Flag City Invitational Sunday. Halm finished with 150 points; Zerr scored 121. In the events themselves, Findlay's Maddox Debelak picked up a victory, winning the men's 13-14 division's 100 meter back in 1:10.04. His teammate, Tsvetin Isaev placed fourth in the event in 1:15.63 Findlay's Millie Halm had a big day in the women's 8 and under division, winning the 100 free in 1:52.93, the 50 back in 1:00.72 and the 100 breast in 2:11.68. In addition, the Frogs' Tori Lewis was a part of four wins, taking the women's 9-10 division 50 back (39.2), the 100 breast (1:41.26) and then was part of the 10 and under 200 medley relay with Norah Halm, Isla Brunow and Ellie Zerr, which won in 3:11.92. Ellie Zerr won the 200 back in 3:45.77. Findlay High swimmer Claire Kemmere, who swims for the Bowling Green Swimming Club, wrapped up an impressive weekend by finishing second in the women's 17-and-over 100 free (1:03.84). Another Findlay swimmer who competed for BG, Ava Bueschlein took fourth in the women's 15-16 200 IM (3:04.91). The Frogs' Asia Boehm took seventh in the event in 3:32.69. Kemmere also took third in the 17 and over 200 IM (2:48.22). She also was part of the BG team -- along with Jennifer Lopez, Bueschlein and Maggie Layne to finish second in the 13-and-under women's 200 medley (2:27.30). That same foursome took third in the 400 free (4:42.48). Overall, Westerville Aquatic Club won the women's events with 2,962 points; the Frogs were third with 993. Fourteen teams competed. On the men's side, Westerville Aquatic Club piled up 3,918 1/2 points to take the team title; Findlay (698 points) was fourth. SATURDAY SWIMMING RESULTS Claire Kemmere added another first-place finish to her resume and the Findlay YMCA Frogs Swim Team added some hardware as well during Saturday's competition in the 41st annual Flag City Invitational at Riverside Pool.Kemmere, who won the 400- and 1,500-meter freestyle events on Friday, won the 200 free title in the girls 17-over division on Saturday with a time of 2:17.48. Kemmere, who competes during the long course season for the Bowling Green Swim Club, also placed third in both the 50 free (30.17) and 100 backstroke (2:40.44), and swam a leg on the BGSC's fourth-place 400 free relay (5:26.06) with Findlay's Ava Beuschlein and Bowling Green's Maggie Layne and Tess Bublick (5:26.06).Findlay's YMCA girls team got two first in the girls 9-10 age division on Saturday, with Norah Halm winning the 100 back (1:38.35) and Ellie Zerr placing first in the 200 breaststroke (4:31.31).Findlay's boys had an impressive showing in the 13-14 50-meter freestyle. Stephan Mahler won that event (27.90), Tsvetin Isaev was second (28.29), Kykle Borsay sixth (29.40) and Maddox Debelak ninth (31.07).Debelak also won the boys 13-14 200 back (2:34.76), while Isaev was third in the 100 butterfly (1:12.15) and fourth in the 200 free (2:25.15).
