NCOESC Educators Boot Camp

North Central Ohio ESC and Northwest Career Ready connected Seneca County educators with businesses in the 2024 Seneca County Business Boot Camp for Educators. Nine educators across Seneca and Wyandot counties toured six business sites during the Boot Camp. Educators learned about the many jobs/careers available in the industries and the skills students need to be successful in securing and retaining these positions. Additionally, they learned about educational advancement and benefits provided by the companies and available to students without incurring college debt. Participating teachers used the information learned from the industry tours to create a unit or project to use in their classrooms with students based on their experience. Participating businesses included American Plastics, Arnold Machine, Tiffin Mercy Hospital, Clouse Construction, Palfinger and Church & Dwight. Educators feedback about the experience included: "Seneca County is truly blessed to have such an array of businesses and industries willing to invest in our community and have faith in our skilled talent pool. The efforts of TSEP, Job and Family Services, and all other collaborators has resulted in successful, continuous growth." "I was impressed with all 6 of the companies/businesses we toured during the Educator Bootcamp. Many of the companies employ people with little to no experience, while others stressed the importance/need for a skilled trade to advance. ALL of the companies stressed the importance of soft skills, employability, the need to advocate, ask questions, and take initiative for themselves to advance." "I was very impressed with all of the companies and what they are offering for students today. This was truly an eye opening and great learning experience. So impressive that companies and teachers/counselors can work together for the students to be able to explore more options that are so close to home!" The Boot Camp was made possible through the collaboration of Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted's Office of Workforce Transformation, NCOESC, area schools, and businesses.
