Fremont man critically injured in crash

SANDUSKY COUNTY --- A Fremont man was critically injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Fremont Post, the accident occurred at about 12:20 p.m. on CR 201, east of Smith Road. Robert B. Severs, 34, of Fremont was traveling eastbound on CR 201 when he "failed to maintain control of his vehicle", running off the left side of the road and striking a utility pole. His vehicle then overturned multiple times, ejecting him from the vehicle. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to Saint Vincent's Mercy Medical Center. Severs is currently listed in critical condition, authorities said. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff's Department, Sandusky County EMS, Ballville Township Fire Department, Toledo Edison and Madison Motors. Alcohol and or drug impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
