County Republican Committee searching for new headquarters

TIFFIN—The Seneca County Republican Central Committee met for a special meeting Wednesday to discuss the tent at the Seneca County Fair and the location of its headquarters. At the meeting, less than half of the Committee was present for reasons unknown, and Chris Widman, chairperson, stated that because of the lack of attendance, a quorum could not be met. Seneca County Commissioner Bill Frankart, the lead organizer for the tent, shared that the key to a successful fair season will be having enough "people to run the tent." The main item of discussion was whether or not the committee wanted to purchase "Trump" signs to have at the fair available for a donation, which they ultimately decided they would opt for. The issue with the signs, however, is that the committee's budget only allocated $1,500 for the fair, $700 of which is for standard fees, leaving only $800 for the purchase of signs. Deb Wilkinson, however, found another $3,000 in the budget allocated for campaign expenses, which the committee opted to use for buying signs. Additionally, the urgency of finding a new headquarters location for the election was discussed at the meeting. Previously, the committee utilized Coppus Motors in Tiffin, but "because of an extensive backstock of cars," said Widman, the location cannot accommodate the committee this year. The next Seneca County Republican Central Committee meeting will be Aug. 8 at the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center (NCOESC), 938 W. Market St., Tiffin.
