Seneca Arrows bring home medals

COLUMBUS — The Seneca Arrows had a weekend full of success as they participated in Ohio's 49th Annual Special Olympic Summer Games. This year, the Seneca County Opportunity Center sent 20 athletes to compete in four sports: Bocce Ball, Track and Field, Volleyball and Bowling. "It was an incredible weekend. Watching all these amazing athletes compete is my favorite weekend of the year," said Kristina Egbert, activities coordinator, "I'm sad to see the weekend come to an end, but so happy for all the memories. Can't wait for 2025!" This year's contestant results are as follows: *4x100m Relay Team - Gold; Josh Meyers, Arrin Allen, Kaleb Jakcsy and Thomas Hammer. *100m Dash - Thomas Hammer (gold), Matt Spencer (silver), Arrin Allen (bronze), Josh Meyer placed fourth and Kaleb Jakcsy placed fifth. *Standing Long Jump - Thomas Hammer (gold). *Running Long Jump - Kaleb Jakcsy (bronze). *Mini Javelin Throw - Arrin Allen (bronze), Matt Spencer (bronze) and Josh Meyers who placed sixth. *Volleyball Team - Bronze; Israel Lopez, Ryan Herr, Seth Miller, Jonathan Jeffery, Timothy Culver, Emma Simpkins, Kamarah Smith and Nick Smith. *Bocce Ball: John DeVanna (bronze), Michelle Gase (bronze) and Jamie Starkey placed fourth. *Bowling: Ralph Gallo (silver), Sean Allison (bronze), Steve Hiser (bronze), and Ashley Steed placed sixth.
