County receives funds for road work

Seneca County recently received grant funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission to aid in township road reconstruction in each township. According to a press release, each of the 15 townships will receive $25,000 to use towards projects, for a total of $375,000. The total cost for the road projects is estimated to be $1,509,487.02. "Seneca County's recent achievement of securing $375,000 in grant funds from the OPWC is a significant step forward in enhancing the infrastructure across the townships," Seneca County Regional Planning Commission Executive Director Charlene Watkins told the A-T. "This project aims to improve the local road network, ensuring better connectivity and safety for the residents of Seneca County." Roads to have reconstruction projects: Adams Township – N TR 178 to CR 34 Big Springs and Loudon Township - Tr 100, E TR 59 to SR 587 Bloom Township - TR 58, E CR 12 to CR 43 Bloom Township - TR 77, N CR 58 to TR 44 Clinton Township – TR 15, N SR 18 to SR 101 Eden Township – TR 25, W TR 17; 1 mile Hopewell Township – TR 69, N TR 132 to CR 38 Jackson Township – TR 36, E CR 25 to TR 64 Liberty Township – TR 69, N CR 592; 1 mile Pleasant Township – TR 73, N CR 40 to the Seneca County line Reed Township – TR 124, E SR 4 to the Seneca County line Scipio Township – TR 106, E TR 181 to TR 77 Seneca Township – TR 38, E TR 131 to TR 38 Seneca Township – TR 28, E and N TR 131 to the Eden Township line Thompson Township - TR 78, N CR 34 to CR 62 Venice Township – TR 191, N TR 44 to CR 35 The work for each project was awarded to M & B Asphalt. Work is expected to begin this month and is expected to be completed by Oct. 1.
