What's new at the fair for kids

TIFFIN — According to Emily Gilliland, Jr. fair board coordinator of the Seneca County Fair, "There's a lot of new things to see." Starting with the brand-new barn for rabbits, poultry and Goats. The new small animal pavilion will have a ribbon cutting on July 22. "It is definitely a new look for the barn," Gilliland said. "The barn has a lot of great exhibits in it and is decorated nicely on the outside. In the current building, Gilliland said they will have some games, information on the Christmas Lights display and "other exciting things for the kids." Gilliland said, new this year, are five displays throughout the fairgrounds of decorated straw bales. You can vote for your favorite display by picking up a ballot at the Junior Fair office. "I think as a young person and a family with young children coming to the fair and experiencing all the different sites, smells, etc. is the way we have a sense of Community and Seneca County," Gilliland said, of the fair experience. "I believe it gives an affordable view of a different life for many people and inspires others to, want to be a part of The community as they grow older." On Friday of the fair this year, they will have an all-species Pee-wee showmanship that is sponsored by Ag Credit. Gilliland said, "Stay tuned as we announce our royalty court and species royalty on (fair) Monday." "Our junior fair exhibitors are second to none," Gilliland said of checking out the hard work of its junior fair participants. "They have worked very hard on their projects and every day there is something exciting to see or experience in the livestock area. The booth building showcases all the hard work of other 4H projects and 4-H clubs."
