Christmas cheer takes over downtown

TIFFIN – Bright lights, holiday cheer and nutcrackers lined the streets of Tiffin Thursday with no snow in sight as a part of the Third Thursday Christmas in July event. Washington Street was lined with participants, viewing the 2nd annual iteration of Operation Hallmark. City Lot #5 was host to Santa's Heroic Helpers "Touch-a-Truck" event featuring the Tiffin police, fire and rescue vehicles, allowing families to get up close and personal with the courageous heroes who protect their community. Kids were able to enjoy a North Pole obstacle course bouncy house, provided by Tiffin Inflatables. Additionally, Glaze'Em Gourmet Funnel Cakes was on location providing sweet treats for all to enjoy. Local merchants participated as well by taking part in a "Naughty or Nice" scratch-off game, all of which contained a chance to win Chamber Cash. Other merchants offered exclusive discounts, giveaways, and activities for children and families. One such business, Simply Susans, located at 70 S. Washington St., offered friendship bracelet making to match their nutcrackers theme–Taylor Swift. The highlight of the event was the Nutcracker Trail, through Operation Hallmark. Local businesses had until May 15 to place orders for unpainted nutcrackers. In total, there were 48 nutcrackers on display, with the winner to be selected today.
