Riehm's fire believed to be electrical

TIFFIN --- A barn at Riehm Produce Farm, 7244 N SR 53, burned Saturday night. The fire started at about 9:18 p.m. Saturday with personnel leaving the scene at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday. No people were injured in the blaze. "The barn is completely gone," Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department Chief Craig Mellott told the A-T. "The straw and hay are burnt up and some minor equipment. Until they get the livestock counted, there may have been some losses." He shared that the fire began when power was turned on in the barn. The straw, hay and barn were nearly immediately on fire. Mellott said that the fire is believed to be electrical. "The loss ended up being a 1908 barn but on the same token, there were five other structures there that could have burned," He concluded. "As horrific as it was, it could have been a lot worse." Bettsville, Bascom, Kansas, Green Springs, Tiffin, Clinton Township and Republic Fire Departments assisted at the scene. "We are extremely grateful for everyone who has reached out to us and sent prayers," Riehm Produce Farm shared on social media. "Thank you for your continued support while we navigate this and determine next steps. We appreciate all the offers to help and will keep everyone up to date once we know what that looks like."
