Welcome your 2024 Junior Fair king and queen

TIFFIN — Carson Staib and Erin Brian have been crowned the 182nd Seneca County Fair Junior King and Queen Monday evening. Staib, who was the only king candidate, graduated this spring from New Riegel High School and is currently in the workforce. He is a member of Hopewell-London Hog and Dairy, Doggon It's 4-H club and New Riegel FFA. He is the son of Tami Staib and Nathan Staib. Brian graduated from New Riegel High School this spring and plans to attend college to pursue a degree in marine biology. She is the daughter of Michelle Faeth. She is also a member of the New Riegel Rawhide and Woolies 4-H Club. First Queen Runner-up was Emma Wertz. Wertz graduated recently from New Riegel High School and plans to attend the University of Findlay in the fall to pursue a degree in animal science. She is the daughter of Nick and Jennifer Wertz and is a member of New Riegel Rawhide and Woolies and Fighten 4-H'ers 4-H clubs. 2024 Seneca County Fair Court is Laura Cook and Chloe Steele. Cook will be a junior this fall at Hopewell-Loudon High School. She is the daughter of Rachel and Kelly Cook. She is a member of the Hopewell-Loudon Hog and Dairy 4-H club as well as the Hopewell-Loudon FFA. Having graduated this spring from Tiffin Columbian High School, Steele plans to continue growing her new clothing line "Buck a Billy's." She is the daughter of Kari and Bobby Steele. She is a member of the Country Clovers 4-H club. All five candidates participated in an in-person interview Saturday with a panel of three judges, Tommy Hoover, Sarah Goshe and Madeline Slingwine, Gidge Sours, royalty superintendent, said. During the royalty luncheon, they completed an on-stage interview with a prepared question and a random fishbowl question and the same three judges tallied up their scores. In addition at the luncheon, the species department and miscellaneous department royalty were crowned. There were seven species of animals represented and a variety of miscellaneous projects represented, according to Sours. These candidates will perform small duties throughout the fair week and participate in parades and festivals after the fair is over.
