Tractor pull changes didn't deter participants, attendance

TIFFIN – The 2024 Seneca County Fair was the first time in over 15 years that the OSTPA Tractor Pulls were moved from Sunday evening to a weekday. Fair Board Vice President Brain Staib broke down the reasoning for the changes and the effect they had following Thursday's event. According to Staib, the main reason for this year's schedule changes was to accommodate all of the entertainment schedules, including the concert featuring Ian Munsick and Cory Asbury Friday. Staib said it is too early to say whether the change of day would take place in the future. "This year was a trial for logistics, and overall everything seemed to flow much more smoothly compared to last year," said Staib. He continued by explaining that last year's event planning was much more hands-on and that this year organizers were able to have more breathing room. Another change to the event was the elimination of two classes, both of which were Semi's. "OSTPA's numbers are actually down, and this year one of their three Semi was out so we would only have had two trucks," said Staib. He continued by adding that even with two classes cut and a scheduling change, attendance did not diminish. "If anything, we saw increased numbers, but I don't have the official count yet," said Staib. In total, there were 50 participants across all classes on both tracks. "Overall, the OSTPA and pullers seemed very happy and are excited to come back next year for more friendly competition, regardless of what day it's scheduled," Staib said.
