Republican party make choice on headquarters

TIFFIN—The Seneca County Republicans Executive and Central Committees met Thursday, and committees voted on a location for the Republican headquarters. The party chose the Watchtower Property, formerly the Gold Bond Furniture Building, at 154 S. Washington St. as its headquarters for the upcoming election. Member Tyler Shuff owns and manages the property and offered it free of charge. Further details of the headquarters hours and staffing will follow. During the meeting guest speaker Ohio State Rep. Gary Click (R-Vickery) spoke regarding the SAFE Act coming into effect. Click discussed the recent ruling in Franklin County regarding the SAFE Act, stating, "I received some excellent news Tuesday morning after I received a call from a reporter," said Click. "She had called me to let me know the judge in Franklin County (Michael Holbrook) ruled in our favor. This is a huge victory for us; thank you for all your support." Additionally, Click announced he will be hosting a fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 4 at Frankart Farm's Octagon House, located at 7618 N. Twp. Road 32, Clyde. On another matter, Linda Davis of Bettsville shared that renovations to Seneca County EMS Station #4 are nearly complete, and there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Sept. 14. Bill and Janet Frankart shared they will be hosting a Bernie Moreno event at 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at Frankart Farm's Octagon House, located at 7618 N. Twp. Road 32, Clyde. Seneca County Auditor Julie Atkins said the auditor's office is busy distributing over $28 million in tax dollars to schools, Fire/Rescue, and other organizations. Seneca County Court of Common Pleas Judge Damon Alt shared that since the Court of Common Pleas has taken over the Pre-trial and probation services, they have had plenty to work on. The change, said Judge Alt, aims to allow common pleas judges more local control and "supervision over individuals." On another matter, Duane Alt, treasurer, shared details from funds raised at the Seneca County Fair, where Trump signs available for a $5 donation. In total, 556 signs were distributed, with $2,780 received in donations. According to the July 31 Treasurer Report, the Seneca County Republican Party's checking account balance was $40,705.53. The next Seneca County Republican Executive and Central Committees meeting will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 10.
