District hires dean of students

TIFFIN — At the Tiffin City School district's board of education meeting, the board approved the job description and hired a dean of students for the high school. Bradley Scheiber was selected for the position and is contracted for the 2024 – 2025 school year at Columbian High School, 300 S. Monroe St. According to the job description, the role is the dean of students for the high school and the assistant athletic director of the middle and high schools. The goal of the role is to "establish a safe, structured learning environment for all students; establish a sound and fair relationship with all students; assist the high school principal and assistant high school principal in all aspects of running the building; coordinate student attendance." Board of Education President Dustin Williams explained that in discussions with previous superintendents and current Superintendent Gerald Nadeau, "it was observed that the high school could benefit from having both a vice principal and a dean of students." Staffing at the high school was then re-evaluated and the decision was made to replace the vacant vice principal position with a dean of students. In other news: The board approved the following action items. 7.1 - Approved Seneca County Opportunity Center excess cost agreement 2024-2025. 7.2 - Approved a trip for the Girls' Varsity Cross Country team to Michigan State University on 9/14/2024. 7.3 - Approved to re-employ Douglas Hartenstein on a one-year contract at $74,095.00 for the 2024-2025 Contract Year. 7.4 - Approved Tiffin City Schools Instructional Framework. 7.5 - Approved updated board policies. 7.6 - Approved Alvarado Consultant Agreement. 7.7 - Approved Perry Pro Tech Agreement. The board then went into executive session to discuss the employment of public employees and to consider the purchase or sale of public property. No action was taken. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Tiffin Middle School, 103 Shepherd Drive.
