Art Guild seeking sponsors for fundraiser

TIFFIN — The local Art Guild is seeking sponsors for their upcoming unique Painted Chair Auction. This is a unique fundraiser in which members of the community can participate to support the local arts. The goal of the fundraiser is to allow local artists of all ages to continue to thrive and develop their passion/craft in the Tiffin community. According to the sign-up sheet for the event, the funds will enhance education by renovating and weatherizing TAG's classroom, allowing them to use it year-round and increase programming for both adults and children. The gala-style event, scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Nov. 8, will take place at the Chandelier, 151 S. Washington St., Tiffin. In addition to the auction, there will be a silent auction of donated goods and original art, as well as a 50/50 raffle. The funds raised at the event will help the Art Guild continue to offer an outlet for creativity and education, and a downtown gallery with juried shows for the artists who are in Seneca County and beyond. Marybeth Fuller, co-chair of the event, said the idea came from local artist and guild member Steven Terry, who paints under the pseudonym Xentaris. "Steven had shared in one of our meetings that the guild had previously done a similar fundraiser, and this is what we came up with," said Fuller. A sponsorship for the chair will cost $300 and covers the chair, paint supplies, and advertising the sponsors name throughout the community as a supporter of the arts. Sponsors' names will be permanently labeled on the chair. Additionally, sponsors will receive admission for two to the event, including food and drinks. Leading up to the event, a scavenger-hunt style community event will be held throughout the month of October, where individuals will have the opportunity to visit the painted chair at their business or organization. "This event has been in the works for well over a year," said Fuller. "It took some time to put everything together, but we think in the end it'll be a very successful event."
