Old Fort's Tackett, SE's girls take crown

Grace Tackett of Old Fort claimed the individual title and Seneca East took the team crown Saturday in the girls portion of the Midland Athletic League Reunion Meet at Hedges-Boyer Park.Seneca East beat Hopewell-Loudon 22-51 for the team title, with Lakota taking third with 66 points. Old Fort, Mohawk, New Riegel and Fremont St. Joe did not field full teams.Tackett topped everyone by crossing the line in 22:22.59.Kailey Haugh added a 22nd (26:08.54) for the Stockaders and Alayna Hessick took 27th (27:54.63).Julia Enders paced the champion Tigers by capturing second (22:36.43). TC girls 3rd at BGSU Mel Brodt InviteBOWLING GREEN – The Columbian girls turned in another strong performance Saturday, placing third out of 38 teams at the Bowling Green State University's Mel Brodt Invitational. Perrysburg scored 44 points to run away with the team championship while Bowling Green edged Columbian for second 160-163. The Tornadoes were paced by Grace Blonde who was 10th out of 386 runners in a time of 20:15. Abbie Felske crossed the line next in 19th in 20:59, Makiah Gurney was 30th in 21:15, Carmen Lewis was 46th in 21:45 and Maddie Kelley ran 22:05 to finish 62nd. Rounding out TC's top seven was Leah Weingart, 94th in 23:01 and Emma Musgrave in 104th in 23:16. Others running for Columbian were Anne Young (154th, 24:28), Gabby Hohman (225th, 26:18), Chloe Heyman (240th, 26:47) and Aubrey Meyers (275th, 27:54). "Outstanding effort by the girls today. Our seniors, Grace, Abbie and Makiah, ran great, just as they have all season, and our four and five runners, Carmen and Maddie, did a tremendous job of closing that gap behind them," TC coach Bob Fittro said. "I feel good about where we're at and how we're running. Upper Sandusky claims boys championshipBUCYRUS — All five Upper Sandusky runners crossed the line in the top 20 Saturday en route to capturing the Bucyrus Elks Invitational boys championship.The Rams held off the host Redmen 50-57 for the title, with Buckeye Central ending eighth on a tiebreaker behind Cardington-Lincoln after both scored 174 points.Bryce Weyand topped Upper Sandusky by clocking in eighth (17:43.1), Abe Baldwin (17:59.9) and Andrew Leightey (18:08.8) ran 12th and 13th, Jameson Reile finished 16th (18:11.3) and Franklin Arnold took 18th (18:21).Rams Henry Minehart (21st, 18:36.3) and Christian Miller (28th, 18:58.8) also competed.Braden Seifert keyed Buckeye Central with a 20th (18:28.1), Blaise Metzger ran 24th (18:39.21), Jeremiah Roberson finished 38th (19:44.9), and Lincoln Mulligan (23:38.71) and Samuel Bailey (23:41.3) came in 70th and 71st.Lucas Cianflone (76th, 24:08.8) also ran for the Bucks.
