Senecas dominant in Lento's return

KANSAS – Calvert's defense continued its strong play Friday night allowing just 171 total yards for Lakota, including 19 yards on the ground on just 11 carries. Meanwhile, senior running back Cal Warnement carried the offense behind that big offensive line as he had 175 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 26 carries as Calvert rushed the ball 41 times for 265 yards in a 28-0 SBC River win at Lakota. Warnement made sure his new coach Mike Lento received a happy homecoming back to Lakota as he put the Senecas (3-1, 1-0) up 7-0 in the first quarter after a 1-yard TD plunge. He then added to that score with a 27-yard TD run in the second to put the Senecas up 14-0 at the half after a Cameron Lucius extra point.Freshman quarterback Tucker Coleman only completed four passes Friday night, but one of them was a 31-yard TD strike to John Schumacher in the third quarter, before Warnement capped the scoring with another 1-yard TD plunge in the third.Nolan Lee also carried the ball nine times for 96 yards for the Senecas. Lakota QB Jalen Wagner was 11 of 19 passing for 94 yards. Nick Elchert led the Raiders in rushing with four attempts for just 16 yards. Grant Bomer caught seven passes for 73 yards. Lakota was just 1 of 11 on third down.Calvert travels to Gibsonburg (2-2, 0-1) next Friday, while Lakota travels to Hopewell-Loudon (4-0, 1-0).
