Police seek help in finding missing men

Two men in Tiffin were reported missing last week. Tiffin Police Chief David Pauly provided additional information about the missing men. Nye Leonard C. Nye, 73, of Tiffin was reported missing last Tuesday, but may have been missing since June. Provided Leonard C. Nye, 73, of Tiffin is a white man who is 5'8" and 168 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His clothing description is unknown. He was reported missing by family members last Tuesday from his residence on N. Sandusky Street. However, Nye may have been missing since June. Pauly shared that Nye is "somewhat estranged from many family members" and that those who reported him missing have had no contact with him for several months. "The landlord has not had any contact with him or seen him since June of this year," Pauly said. Nye's disappearance requires further investigation due to "several notable concerns" surrounding the disappearance. "Our officers and detectives are diligently pursuing all leads and examining these areas closely," he continued. "Given the extended period during which Mr. Nye has been missing, along with certain questionable items discovered at his residence, the Tiffin Police Department is treating this as a suspicious missing person case." Bailes, 35, of Tiffin has been missing since Friday. Provided Codey M. Bailes, 35, of Tiffin is a white man who is 5'5" and 200 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a black Reebok hoodie, black K-Swiss shoes and white AND1 basketball shorts. Bailes was last seen on foot last Friday at 181 E. Perry St. "Mr. Bailes made suicidal remarks before his disappearance," Pauly said. "While the Tiffin Police Department currently lacks detailed information about his medical or mental health, his statements indicate that he may pose a clear risk to himself." Pauly considers him to be an endangered missing person based on the suicidal statements, saying, "the sooner we locate him and get him the help he needs, the better." Law enforcement does not have information that the men are connected in any way.
