TCS hires new treasurer

Tiffin City Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of the district's new treasure during a meeting Thursday evening. Anne Spence will take the lead in her new position starting Nov. 1 through July 2027, in a 2-year and nine-month contract. "I am ecstatic about joining the Tiffin City School District," Spence said in a release. She has served as the treasurer at Hopewell-Loudon School District and as assistant treasurer at Findlay City Schools. Spence attended the University of Findlay earning an MBA in 2006 and received her treasurer's license in 2017. "I have an open-door policy and I am looking forward to meeting and working with Tiffin City Schools' staff, students, parents and community," Spence said. Tiffin City Board President Dustin Williams said he is "very excited for (Anne) to have aboard." On another matter, the board also approved gymnastics as an official club sport. Gymnastics currently participates as a club at the Tiffin Community YMCA and will now be able to represent Tiffin City Schools with official colors and logos. The club will be evaluated to determine if it can become a full sport within the district. Superintendent Jerry Nadeau addressed the recent Ohio State Report Card for the district. The district received three out of five stars, meeting state standards. Nadeau highlighted that Noble 4-5 Elementary School received five out of five stars; and Krout 2-3 Elementary School received three point five out of five stars. "We seen improvement in all of our schools," he said. Under the gifted category, Nadeau said the district just missed meeting state standards by just two-tenths, with only six districts in the state meeting state standards in the gifted category. "We are making steady improvements," he said. "We as a team, we want to celebrate all of our successes. It is also not just our teaching staff, but all you (come in contact) with our students have an impact." Nadeau said, although "we are not where we want to be, we have the community to do so." In other news, the board approved: *Memorandum of agreement for dental and vision services outreach between Health Partners of Western Ohio and Tiffin City Schools, as exhibited. *Residential treatment tuition agreement through Benchmark Behavioral Health for a specified student, as exhibited. Cost of a daily rate of $120 with 244 days and $29,280 for the year. *The job description for the position of Service Technologist. *Honeywell Building Performance Service Agreement as exhibited. For the purpose of maintaining the district's building's boiler systems. *The P. T. Services Athletic Training Services Agreement as exhibited. For the hiring of an athletic trainer at $40 per hour. *Updated Board Policies, as exhibited: BDDA: Notification of Meetings; BDDG: Minutes; EHA: District Records Commission, Records Retention and Disposal.
