Dell's celebrates 90 years, with new renovations

FOSTORIA—Dell's restaurant originally opened in 1934 and continues to cook for families. They recently renovated the floor, replaced equipment, installed booths with charging ports and redid the front of the store, with more renovations to come. Even with the new renovations, Dell's still has the same feel as it always has, with old-fashioned lunch boxes as decorations and affordable meals. Most of the food is made from scratch in-house, including ribs, BBQ sauce and smoked brisket, which is a 17-hour process. "The food is homemade and made with love and care," said Pat Weidner an employee who's worked at Dell's for 6 years. "Everyone cares about the preparation and works together." Not only can you tell the food is made with love, but you can tell the restaurant cares about supporting other small businesses. "The restaurant is small town owned," Owner Karl Omlor said. "It isn't corporate so when you eat here, you're supporting local people and the money stays here. Even the floors were made here at Roppe which you don't get with chain restaurants." "Well it depends on when you come in," Weidner said, when asked what you should order when coming in the first time. "We serve breakfast all day, lunch, and dinner. I would say if you're coming in for lunch you have to try the Rueben." Dell's, located at 224 S. Main St., is open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
