Pleasant Ridge Church celebrates 200 years

TIFFIN—The church, also known as Egbert Church, was started in a barn in 1824 by Uriah and Susannah Egbert. The building that currently stands just outside of Tiffin was built in 1890. During the celebration service Sunday afternoon, led by Pastor Virginia Park, Lay Pastor RoxAnne Roush and Lay Speaker Dave Myers, live music was played by Greg Ramsdell, Professor of music at Heidelberg University, descendants of Uriah and Susannah Egbert identified themselves and spoke about their relation to the Egbert family. The congregation heard a church history from local Attorney Ken Egbert Jr. and a musical selection from Shirley Egbert Olinik. It also heard official proclamations and letters from Pleasant Township Trustees, Seneca County Commissioners, Ohio Sen. Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) and US Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH). Also in attendance were past pastors Rev. Gary Hicks and Rev. Tim Paroz, who gave commendations for the last 200 years.
