Attica parks levy passed

The income tax renewal levy for the village of Attica parks passed by voters Tuesday, according to unofficial Seneca County election results. The 5-year levy will collect $10,000 annually, at a rate not to exceed 0.75 mills for each $1 of taxable value, which amounts to $18 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's appraised value, commencing in 2025, first due in calendar year 2026. Nicole Lenhart of the village's Parks and Recreation committee, had said "To my knowledge, the levy has been in place since at least the 70's." She continued, "As long as we have support from the community, I think that we can make all of our parks wonderful again." The levy passed by 234 votes, according to unofficial election results from the Seneca County Board of Elections. "I'd like to begin by thanking everyone in the community who went out and voted," Lenhart said. "Thank you to the community for getting this levy renewed. I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish with the parks over the coming years, we have a lot of plans in the work and even more ideas in mind. We really want to make our parks great again and with this levy, I truly feel that we can."
