YMCA opens new pool

The YMCA of Bucyrus-Tiffin, 180 Summit St., Tiffin, officially opened its new pool with a ribbon cutting Wednesday evening. President and CEO of the YMCA Charles "Buster" Ardner said the project cost approximately $1.4 million for the two new pools from Myrtha Pools, the same manufacturer as the Olympic pools in Paris, one a competition pool and the other an ADA-compliant leisure pool. The update was needed after the original pool, installed in 1974, was starting to have drainage issues. Ardner said the renovations were completed in eight months, two months longer than what was originally planned. "A six-month timetable was aggressive," Ardner said. "Eight months is amazing." Clouse Construction, Tiffin Sound Solutions, Omni Pools and Scapes, Dunbar Mechanical and KGS Ohio all worked on the project. Those who attended the ribbon cutting heard remarks from Ardner, Heidelberg President Rob Huntington, Tiffin Mayor Lee Wilkinson, Destination Seneca County Executive Director Bryce Riggs and TSEP Economic Development Adam Gillmor.
