Clyde-Green Springs Schools to put permanent improvement levy on May ballot

CLYDE — Residents living within the Clyde-Green Springs school district can expect to decide on a levy in May.On Monday, board members agreed to place a permanent improvement renewal levy on the ballot for the primary election on May 2, 2017.The levy currently collects at 1.5 mills and was last passed in November 2012. Treasurer Meghan Rohde said residents should expect to pay the same amount per year they've been paying the last few years."This is to keep the levy going. (Levy money) goes toward the upkeep (of facilities) and buses," she said.District officials are still ironing out details and will know more by the January board meeting."We're looking at options for what we take to the ballot. It's in the beginning stages," Rohde added.The district will need to file with the Sandusky County Board of Elections by February.In other business, board members approved numerous book, instrument and monetary donations including a $125 donation for participation fees for district students from Julie Wagner in memory of her daughter Emily, who passed away in a car crash on Oct. 1.Reach reporter Caitlin Nearhood at nearhood@sanduskyregister.com and follow her on Twitter @CaitlinNearhood
