TCS responds to threat on middle school

TIFFIN - Tiffin City Schools informed parents Sunday evening about a potential threat against Tiffin Middle School. "The current potential threat was seen on social media and reported via the recently implemented See Something, Say Something initiative," said superintendent Gerald Nadeau said in a notice. "We are utilizing all available resources to investigate this matter further to ensure the safety and security of all. The TPD have located the source of the potential threat from an out-of-state location and do not believe it is credible." The district will remain open Monday with "extra security" at the middle school, according to the notice. TPD officers will also increase their presence. Nadeau: "The TCS Board of Education and our Administrative team are committed to ensuring that safety and security protocols are in place to maximize our learning environments. We allocate resources accordingly, and while we take threats seriously, we also verify the validity of claims. The See Something, Say Something reporting system worked as intended. We are thankful for the person who reported and to the TPD, Board and Administration for their work and dedication to the TC community."
