Sandusky County Board of DD honors employee dedicated service

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities (SCBDD) proudly announces the conclusion of Cheryl Durnwald's term on the Board of Directors. Durnwald has been an invaluable community member, contributing significantly to the development and success of SCBDD programs and initiatives. Throughout her tenure, Durnwald demonstrated unwavering commitment and passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. She played a pivotal role in leading SCBDD as we navigated significant changes and challenges over the last 15 years, including Governor Kasich's 2012 Employment First Initiative, the 2014 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rule requiring the privatization of Ohio disability services, the Technology First Executive Order of 2018, the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, and more. "Cheryl's dedication and leadership have been instrumental in advancing our mission," said Sarah Zimmerman, Superintendent of the Sandusky County Board of DD. "We are deeply grateful for her 15 years of service and the positive impact she has made in our community as her term comes to an end." Durnwald's contributions were honored at the SCBDD's Nov. 25 Board meeting. "We will miss Cheryl's insight and guidance, but we wish her all the best while looking forward to continuing the important work she has helped to build."
