Tiffin Community Foundation offers 2025 Scholarships

In 2024 The Tiffin Community Foundation awarded more than 90 scholarships to local Seneca County students. 2025 applications will soon be available from your school counselor and on our website at www.tiffinfoundation.org/funds/#scholarship. Most applications are due by March 31. New scholarships this year include The Houtz Family Scholarship for seniors at Lakota High School. Nancy Houtz served on the Lakota School Board as well as the Board of Vanguard Sentinel. Her husband Bill was a Boy Scout leader and both he and Nancy served many years on the Sandusky County School Board. Nancy and Bill were both very committed to education and especially career training. The Houtz Family has established this scholarship to further their legacy of leadership and passion for children's education. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a student from Lakota High School. The Jean E. Egbert Memorial Scholarship has been updated and will now be offered to Tiffin Columbian seniors who plan to attend Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. Jean E. Egbert, a long-time teacher of social studies, economics, and government at Tiffin Columbian High School, was particularly passionate about teaching her students how to think critically about their role in society and pursuing excellence in education. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior student who will be attending Heidelberg University in the year immediately following their high school graduation. Preference will be given to students inclined to pursue advancement in the areas of leadership, government, and/or public policy. The D. Murray Carley Scholarship Fund was established to support the work he loved as a Physical Therapist working with student athletes. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has graduated from one of the following schools in Seneca County: Tiffin Columbian, Calvert Catholic Schools, Mohawk, Hopewell-Loudon, Fostoria, New Riegel, Old Fort, North Central Academy, or Seneca East Local Schools. The student must be currently enrolled in a certified athletic training or physical therapy program at a fully accredited college or university. The Tiffin Women In Action (TWIA) Scholarship is once again available to non-traditional female students residing in Seneca County Ohio who are currently enrolled in or have been accepted into a course of study through a fully accredited post-secondary educational institution. The St. Francis Care Center Foundation of Green Springs Scholarship is available to students currently enrolled in a health care program, who have graduated from a Seneca County High School in Ohio and have completed at least 50% of their studies. Through The Tiffin Community Foundation, many generous individuals, families, companies, and organizations have established tuition and scholarship funds that benefit deserving students.
