Tornadoes dominate at sectional swim meet

FREMONT – The Columbian swim teams continued their stellar seasons Saturday at the Division I-II sectional meets at Fremont Ross. In the end, the Tornadoes will have four boys and nine girls represent TC at the district swim meet coming up next weekend at BGSU. The girls will have someone in every single event, and they also broke four school records in the process.Like she has all season, Addison Fortney dominated in the pool, breaking two individual school records and will be in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay at the district meet. She broke school records in the 50 free (24.86) and in the 100 free (54.46). She was also a part of two school-record relays – the 200 medley relay (1:55.67) and the 200 free relay (1:43.08). Olyvia Steinmetz will in the 200 free (2:05.19), 100 back (1:02.91), 200 MR and the 200 FR, Korryn Potts will be in the 100 free, 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay, Abigail Willman will be in the 200 individual medley (2:26.23), the 100 breast (1:16.80) and the 400 FR (4:02.22), Alaina Sherman will be in the 500 free (5:49.23) and the 400 FR, Layne Woodruff will be in the 400 FR, Kennedy Slosser will be busy in the 200 IM (2:23.50), 100 fly (1:03.70), 200 MR and 200 FR, Kinsey Slosser will be in the 500 free (5:56.53) and Anne Young will swim in the 100 fly (1:05.50) and the 400 FR.For the boys, Nolan Danielson advanced in the 500 free (5:52.31), 200 MR (1:54.76) and 400 free, Austin Poignon will be in the 50 free (24:28), 100 back (1:04.30), 200 MR and 400 FR (3:45.93), Braden Staib advanced in the 50 free (23.50), 100 free (51.89), 200 MR and the 400 FR and Parker Szablewski will be in the 200 MR and the 400 FR. Rams break away lateNEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky pulled away in the fourth quarter Saturday to beat Buckeye Central 34-27 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play.The teams entered halftime knotted at 11 and ended the third quarter tied 19-19 before the Rams (14-8, 9-5 N10) broke free.Grace Walton hit four 3-pointers for all 12 of her points for Upper Sandusky. Ellee Ham added 10 and Addy Newman scored eight.Nevaeh Metzger's 10 points topped the Buckettes (9-13, 3-11). Fostoria blows by Eagles 70-37TOLEDO – Alycia Middlebrooks paced Fostoria with 26 points to lead it to a 70-37 victory at Toledo Christian Saturday night. Lyrique Johnson, Kamari Johnson and Amijah Poole each added nine points for Fostoria (12-10), while Kam Coopshaw had seven points.Fostoria actually trailed 13-9 after one quarter, but then outscored TC 45-16 in the next two quarters to blow it open. O-G races away from RamsOTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf broke free in the second quarter and ended with three players combining for 42 points Saturday in a 63-40 win against Upper Sandusky at the O-G Winter Classic.The Titans ended the opening period clinging to a 16-15 lead before outscoring Upper Sandusky 23-8 in the second quarter for a 39-23 lead.Grady Toumazas paced O-G (7-11) with 19 points, Brady Fortman scored 13 and Adam Maag had 10.Brock Montgomery's 16 points sparked the Rams (14-6). Justin Heilman chipped in 10 points and Kaimen Iles had eight.
