Fliers power their way to Stockmaster crown

CASTALIA — Five Clyde grapplers earned titles and four others placed Saturday, propelling the Fliers past Port Clinton 239 1/2-206 for the Margaretta Caleb Stockmaster Memorial championship.The Fliers picked up crowns from 113-pounder Heath Norris, 132-pounder Dawson Brimmer, 138-pounder Linkin Mullins, 144-pounder Michael Gessner and 285-pounder Jaden Minch.Norris went 6-0 in round-robin competition, Brimmer edged Mohawk's Owen Patrizi 3-2, Mullins beat Mohawk's Brant Kirian 15-8, Gessner scored a 16-6 major decision against Elmwood's Peyton Schafer and Minch pinned Elmwood's Chris Clark (:18).Hunter Pollock added a second at 120 pounds for Clyde, Blake Andres came in fourth at 106 pounds, Max Miller took fifth at 215 pounds and Peyton Franks finished sixth at 157 pounds.Pollock fell 5-3 to South Central's Diton Farnsworth, South Central's Wyatt Martin pinned Andres (2:11), Miller pinned Margaretta's Evan Starr (1:20) and Bellevue's Landon Sartor dropped Franks 5-1.Mohawk took third in the team standings with 171 points, Bellevue held off Hopewell-Loudon 70 1/2-60 for 12th, Lakota ended 15th (38 1/2) and Buckeye Central finished 16th (4).Kaleb Bish topped Mohawk by pinning Parkway's Jaden Green (3:25) for the 175-pound title.Along with Patrizi and Kirian, the Warriors also got runner-up finishes from 165-pounder Lance Frankart and 215-pounder Braylan Mullholand.Parkway's Landon Younker scored a 15-0 technical fall against Frankart, and Plymouth's Noah Robinson pinned Mullholand (5:10).Myer Kirian added a fourth at 138 pounds for Mohawk after falling 6-3 to Elmwood's Evan Strausbaugh, and Liam Pursell took sixth at 144 pounds following a 19-4 technical fall loss to South Central's Greyson Fisher.Bellevue 285-pounder Deacon Nunez pinned Arcadia's Zach Altvater (:59) to earn third.Hopewell-Loudon got a second from 157-pounder Isaiah Hook, a third from 215-pounder Wyatt Crow and, a sixth from 285-pounder Parker Reinhart.Port Clinton's Briar Rohrer edged Hook 3-2, Crow pinned Margaretta's Aiden Moyer (2:31), and Port Clinton's Julian Curry scored a 9-1 major decision against Reinhart.Lakota's Lane Thacker took the 150-pound championship via default against Port Clinton's Gavin Cornell.Buckeye Central did not have a placer. SE's Young earns titleROSSFORD — Alexzander Young captured a title and two teammates placed Saturday to top Seneca East's efforts at the boys portion of the Rossford McCumber Invitational.Young toppled Woodmore's Bailey Jendrzejak 8-5 in sudden victory to claim the 215-pound championship for the Tigers.Jackson Gayheart and Deacon Lacy also found their way to the podium for Seneca East.Woodmore's Michael Seeger nipped Gayheart 13-12 for third at 190 pounds, and Perrysburg's Hughie Carpenter scored a 19-2 technical fall against Lacy to end fifth at 126 pounds.The event included a girls tournament. Although the boys and girls did not compete against each other, team scores from both were combined into one final standing.Perrysburg's boys rolled past Delta's girls 297-160 for the top team spot. Seneca East's boys ended 20th in the 54-team field with 63 points. Trio of area titlists at McCumber InviteROSSFORD — Two Seneca East grapplers and one from Fostoria each earned titles Saturday in the girls portion of the Rossford McCumber Invitational.Seneca East's championships came from 100-pounder Jolie Schimpf and 135-pounder Kiera Depinet, while Fostoria 145-pounder Ariana Espinosa-Snowden claimed a crown.Schimpf went 4-0 in round-robin competition for the Tigers, and Depinet pinned River Valley's Havyn Rodgers (1:49).Espinosa-Snowden pinned Delta's Ryllie Taylor (3:11) for the Redmen.Seneca East also got a second from 110-pounder Kendyll Salyer and a seventh from 145-pounder Haylee Dawson.Salyer fell 8-5 to Rossford's Noel Reinhart, and Dawson pinned Lincolnview's Lorelai Boroff (4:03).Fostoria got a second from 235-pounder Lily Bernal, a third from 105-pounder Isabella Snowden and an eighth from 110-pounder Ameliana Haughawout.Bernal finished 3-1 in round-robin competition, Snowden went 2-2 in round-robin competition, and Haughawout fell via forfeit to Elmwood's Corrine Abbott.The event included a boys tournament.
