The Sweet Spot to open at JAM's

TIFFIN—Let the sweet tooth rejoice! A new bakery cafe soon will be open. The Sweet Spot at JAM's Markets is slated to open in early May, said Jami Fadley, owner of JAM's, as a way to "reinvent the food aspect" of the business and offer a local bakery option to the community. Fadley said the bakery is one step of her overall plan to offer an event center at the location and provide catering services. "I'm a foodie to my soul," she said and is planning an eclectic mix of items on the menu at The Sweet Spot to please the palates of customers. Fadley said she has been reaching out to vendors in the area, and approximately 15 are on board to provide products at the bakery cafe. Options will range from cinnamon rolls and cupcakes to bagels, pretzels, whipped cream cheeses and cheesecake, she said. Vegan-friendly and gluten-free options will be on the menu, she said, and local coffees and teas will be served. While some choices will be constants at The Sweet Spot, Fadley said the menu will be "fun, revolving with the seasons." Customers will find some packaged items, in addition to choices in a refrigerator case and a baking case, she said. One unique option, Fadley said, will be a pickle/olive bar. Currently, Fadley said she is working on licensing for The Sweet Spot and building the space itself. A corner of the market is being remodeled for the bakery, she said. "Nobody will expect what we're going to do." While The Sweet Spot generally will cater to take-out customers, Fadley said limited dine-in seating will be available, and outside seating will be open when weather allows. Fadley said her ultimate goal for JAM's market, The Sweet Spot, and future catering and event services at the location is to serve youth and young adults in the community. Getting kids involved in JAM'S would be an opportunity to help teach them about finances, cooking, and other life skills that Fadley said she didn't learn when she was growing up. "I want to incorporate helping young people," she said. Hadley said she has been in discussions with local schools about options for students. The Sweet Spot's hours initially will mirror those of JAM'S, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., but are subject to change depending on interest, she said. Fadley invites local vendors interested in partnering with The Sweet Spot to contact her, particularly those who create specialty snacks like salsas, beef jerky, and other unique treats.
