New Riegel board hears updates

NEW RIEGEL — The New Riegel Board of Education met Wednesday to hear a presentation about the state of the New Riegel bus fleet from Transportation Director Mark Theis. Theis also updated the board on bus drivers and policies on transporting students. Superintendent David Rombach gave several district updates and discussed an upcoming kindergarten screening in April. Also at the meeting, treasurer Brad Raddison told the board the district had received an income tax settlement and that income tax overall had increased by 6.9% in the last year. The board then approved the following motions: Approving the transfer of $11,741.88 from the general fund to the permanent improvement plan. Approving the continuing contracts with i3 education schoolpay for hosting services for accepting electronic payments for student point of sale accounts. Approving the additional contract with Midwest Regional ESC for vision services for the 2024-2025 school year. Accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and to authorize the necessary tax levies and certify them to the county auditor. Approving the fifth-grade overnight field trip to the YMCA Camp Wilson in Bellefontaine, OH in April. Approving several fundraisers for the 2024-2025 school year including an umbrella sale by the National Honor Society, coffee sale by the freshman class, apparel sale by the softball and baseball teams, chocolate egg sales by S.A.D.D. and homecoming ticket sales by the senior class. Authorizing New Riegel High and Junior High school membership to the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2025-2026 school year. Entering into agreements with Tiffin University for the College Credit Plus Programs for the 2025-2026 school year. Approving OHSAA Sectional Tournament workers for boys basketball game including Jamie Lininger, Joann Gabel, Katelyn Puchta, Paul Reiter, Jason Lininger, Stacey Kiesel, Kristin Tiell, Kaiden Morris and Stephanie Dietz. The board then went into executive session to discuss employment of a public employee. No action was taken.
