Murder victim's cause of death revealed

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky murder victim's cause of death was released by police officials on Thursday. The woman, who police have not identified, died as a result of asphyxiation, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. It's known as a condition where the body does not receive enough oxygen. The alleged perpetrator, Toldrick M. Griffin, Jr., 19, of Georgia, had his bond set at $1 million by Sandusky Municipal Court Judge Erich O'Brien. At about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found a broken-down vehicle on Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) in the Perkins Township-Huron Township area. Griffin allegedly fled from the vehicle on foot. He was located by troopers shortly thereafter. Law enforcement officials were able to link the vehicle Griffin was operating to a home in the 1100 block of Perry St. Officers went to the home, entered and found a woman dead inside, according to Oliver. They then obtained a search warrant and processed the home for evidence. Officers then interviewed Griffin and he allegedly made "admissions about what happened at the residence, including an argument with the female," said Oliver, noting the Erie County prosecutor's office agreed with a murder charge. As of late Thursday, Griffin is incarcerated in Erie County Jail.
