2025 Maple Fest set

REPUBLIC — Snavely's Sugar Shack's Maple Fest will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 9 at Snavely's Sugar Shack, located 9404 E. Township Road 138. Snavely's Sugar Shack has been producing maple syrup since 1864, with the sixth generation of the Snavely family currently operating the business and the seventh and eighth generations actively involved, according to a release. The family collects sap using traditional spiles and buckets and processes it with a fuel oil-fired evaporator and reverse osmosis. The Maple Fest, first held in 1993, has grown from an event drawing 300 attendees to serving nearly 800 visitors in recent years. The Maple Fest includes an all-you-can-eat breakfast featuring pancakes, pork sausage, coffee, juice, water, soft-serve ice cream, and fresh maple syrup. After breakfast, visitors can take a free hayride to the Sugar Camp to learn about the maple syrup-making process. Maple products will be available for purchase at the event. Breakfast is prepared and served by local Masonic groups including Seneca Lodge #790 and the Eastern Stars, with assistance from 3R 4-H Club and local volunteers for cleanup, parking, and tours. Tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for children ages 5-11, and free for children 4 and under. Visitors should dress appropriately for the weather, as portions of the event take place outdoors.
