Warriors wallop Tornadoes 22-2

Mohawk followed up a season-opening win over New Riegel Tuesday with a shellacking of Columbian 22-2 Wednesday.The Warriors (2-0) led 11-0 after an inning and compiled 18 hits and took advantage of nine TC errors.Aubrey Gottfried – while also getting the win in the circle – led the offense with a home run, a double, a single and six RBIs for the Warriors. They also got four singles and a pair of RBIs from Emily Brickner, a homer, a double, a single and five RBIs from Mallory Brickner, Katie Woodland (RBI), Anna Russell and Blake Miller (HR, 2 RBIs) all added two hits and Trenna Johnson and Averie Barth both ended with a single and an RBI apiece.Addie Smith and Olyvia Steinmetz each singled for the Tornadoes (0-1). Cam Haman drove in a run.In the circle, Gottfried struck out 10 and gave up two unearned runs in five innings. Smith took the loss for TC, allowing 11 runs (three earned) on 10 hits in just an inning of work. Haman tossed the final four frames. Raiders smash Wildcats 26-12KANSAS – Fans of offense would've loved the Lakota-Vanlue matchup Wednesday night.The two teams combined to throw 344 pitches, while the offenses accounted for 38 runs on 32 hits as Lakota walked away with a 26-12 victory after plating 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth.Vanlue actually led 5-2 after one and then 9-6 after two innings, but it couldn't slow down Lakota's bats. The Raiders (1-0) tallied 24 hits and just kept scoring.Lexi Moon led Lakota with four singles and four RBIs, while Chevelle Rubel added four singles and two RBIs, Emma Jurovcik tacked on three singles and four RBIs, Mya Stoudinger homered, singled twice and drove in three runs, Savanah Vestal smoked two triples and a double and drove in a pair of runs and Kailynn Smith (2 RBI), Sophia Bomer (RB) and Hannah Stahl (RBI) all tallied two hits. Elizabeth Strawman tripled and drove in a run.Jurovcik was the winning pitcher in her seven innings of relief of Bomer. She gave up seven runs (three earned) on eight hits as she struck out nine and walked nine on 159 pitches. She punched out 10 and walked four on 118 pitches.At the plate, Jacqui Tiell tallied two singles and drove in a run for the Blue Jackets (1-1), while Maddie Heilman (2 RBI) blasted a solo home run in the first inning and Ruthann Baughman (RBI) and Lacey Schalk both doubled.Ember Andres matched Heilman with a solo shot of her own for the Fliers (0-2). They also got a single and an RBI from Adriana Barnes-Ortmann and a double by Vanessa West.Taitum Jeffrey suffered the loss in the circle, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits. She fanned eight. Rams blank TigersUPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky got off to a good start Wednesday with a four-run first inning against Galion. That actually was plenty to get the win, but the Rams won in the end 10-0 in five innings.Ava Saull (2B, 2 RBI), Madison Hart (RBI) and Brook Montgomery all produced a pair of hits for the Rams (2-0), while Madison Wengerd homered and drove in three runs, Carly Boes singled and drove in a run and Hope Morris slapped a double.Aleah McCann went all five innings in the circle, giving up just five hits. She fanned three and walked a pair on 67 pitches.
