Board approves $900k turf replacement

TIFFIN - Monday evening, the Tiffin City School board approved a contract with the Motz Group for the Frost-Kalnow Stadium turf replacement project. The total cost of the project is $908,500, according to the agreement. The turf is estimated to be completed in the summer of this year and has a performance warranty of eight years. Business students from Columbian High School gave a presentation about Future Bound, an event hosted by Junior Achievement USA in Atlanta, Georgia this summer. The event celebrates all four national Junior Achievement competitions and features workshops led by national leaders and experts. The class recently competed in the organization's stock market challenge in Toledo. One group of students won first place, and the other group won third place. The business class asked the board to approve the Atlanta trip, which it did. The board also heard a presentation from Tiffin Middle School Principal Ryan Imke who gave an update about the school. In other business, the board approved the following action items: 8.1 - Approve administrative contract for the assistant superintendent 8.2 - Approve administrative contract for the director of parent/community partnerships 8.3 - Approve advertisement for bids for Tiffin Middle School cafetorium renovation 8.4 - Approve the Agreement with DataServ 8.5 - Approve Northern Buckeye Education Council agreement 8.6 - Approve Ohio Schools Council Cooperative resolution to advertise and receive bids for school's bus chassis and bodies 8.7 - Adopt resolution to purchase from bids received by Ohio Schools Council 8.8 - Approve the agreement for The Motz Group LLC for the Frost-Kalnow Stadium turf replacement project 8.9 - Approve the account clerk - accounts payable job description 8.10 - Approve the account clerk - benefits clerk job description 8.11 - Approve the account clerk payable & receivable job description 8.12 - Approve the school psychologist job description 8.13 - Approve the student services secretary job description 8.14 - Approval of business class trip to Atlanta, Georgia will allow up to 24 students and 6 chaperones to attend the event. Fundraising will occur to cover expenses not covered by the scholarship. The board then went into executive session to consider employment and to prepare for, conduct, or review negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees with no action taken. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the Tiffin Middle School, 103 Shepherd Dr.
