Hands off our country!

TIFFIN — Sr. Jane Omlor of the Tiffin Sisters of St. Francis says "Hands off!" On Saturday, protests are scheduled to, as a recent article from People's World states, "Stop the MAGA assault on our country and our constitution." Omlor plans to take part in the peaceful demonstration scheduled along the sidewalk in front of the courthouse in downtown Tiffin, from 1-3 p.m. In the region, protests are also planned for Fremont, Bowling Green, Toledo and Sandusky. Some signs will be available for use in Tiffin, but Omlor encourages those wishing to participate to create their own signs with issues important to them. "We're simple, ordinary people peacefully protesting," Omlor said. "Make a sign and try to raise the consciousness of the people of Seneca County that we're scared, we're worried and we want to make our voices heard." "The whole idea," Omlor said, "is to send a message to the Trump administration and Elon Musk … Don't touch, keep your hands off social security, Medicaid, Medicare, VA benefits," and other benefits and departments people find important. "There's no empathy or compassion anymore," she said. "I have been feeling very helpless, but this (protest) is something we can do."
