TC tops Huron 3-2 for 10th win

HURON – It wasn't exactly easy, but Columbian tallied win No. 10 this season with a 3-2 victory at Huron.TC won two of the three singles matchups, but Huron's No. 1 Jason Lenczyk dropped Zach Shawberry 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.TC's No. 2 Dravyn Dicken topped Joey Cencer 6-0, 6-1 and No. 3 Brock Siesel beat Will Ferenczy 6-0, 6-1.TC's No. 1 doubles duo of Parker Nye and Parker Stroub clinched the win for TC with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Caleb Holmes and Georgie Dunlap. Huron's second pair won a 6-4, 4-6, 13-11 thriller over Ryan Arnold and Jarrett Jaeck.TC improved to 10-2 this season. Fliers edge PanthersCLYDE – None of the five matches were close, but the overall match was as Clyde squeaked out a 3-2 win over Sandusky St. Mary Wednesday.At singles play, SMCC won two of the three as Clyde's Aric Kauble topped Jacob Harrison 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1. St. Mary's No. 2 Eian Stchill defeated Connor Eastby 6-1, 6-1 and No. 3 Pravir Gorty took down Alex Barrett 6-1, 6-2.Clyde won the match sweeping the doubles matches as the No. 1 team of Chase Castle and Oscar Webb handled Luke Spicer and Pavan Gorty 6-2, 6-0 and the No. 2 duo of Hunter Begley and Mallory Eastby dropped Mason Russell and Carter Snyder 6-2, 6-1.Clyde improved to 11-1. Rams' singles dominatesBUCYRUS – Upper Sandusky certainly had the advantage in singles play Wednesday in a 4-1 win at Bucyrus.Upper Sandusky swept all three singles tilts as No. 1 Abe Baldwin handled Seth Price 6-0, 6-3, while No. 2 Nick Nieset topped Rielly Bolster 6-1, 6-1 and No. 3 Ryan Day upended Bella Stang 6-0, 6-0.Bucyrus' one win came at No. 1 doubles as its pair of Mason Eldridge and Will Kuhn took down Gage McWilliams and Lyman Starner 6-1, 6-2.At No. 2 doubles, the Rams duo of Chandler Elkins and Reece Gottfried defeated Aubrie Kimmel and Reese Garvin 6-1, 6-0. Senecas get revenge on BearsIn the first league matchup of the season, Calvert fell 4-3 at Gibsonburg in a tough loss. Wednesday, the Senecas came out on top, despite being out-hit 10-5 at the plate. The Senecas also took advantage of four Gibsonburg errors in a 4-2 SBC River victory.Calvert (14-2, 8-2 SBC River) got on the board first with a three-run bottom of the first.Ava Eilrich lined a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Senecas, while Addison King drove in two runs with a single, Gracie Miller ended with an RBI and both Addison Sheets and Sofia Lee singled.Eilrich earned the win in the circle, giving up just two runs on 10 hits in a complete game. Blue Jackets blast SMCCSANDUSKY – New Riegel set the tone early with a five-run first inning en route to a 13-0 run-rule win at Sandusky St. Mary Wednesday. NR (11-2, 8-0 SBC River) compiled 12 hits as Ashlyn Bouillon (3B), Jacqui Tiell (RBI) and Ruthann Baughman (2-2B, 4 RBI) all had two hits, while Alexis Mathias doubled and drove in a pair of runs, Lacey Schalk and Karsyn Piper both doubled and drove in a run and Lilly Schalk singled and drove in a run.Lacey Schalk got the win in the circle going all five innings. She scattered three hits with five punchouts and a pair of walks on 69 pitches. Velasquez vaults Chieftains to 14-5 winLAKESIDE – Hopewell-Loudon's Araceli Velasquez was dominant Wednesday night both in the circle and at the plate.She picked up the win in the circle with 4 1/3 innings of relief and she did her part at the plate too with a pair of home runs and six RBIs as the Chieftains routed Danbury 14-5 in SBC River action.Overall, H-L (10-5, 5-4 SBC River) produced 11 hits as Sidney Brickner (2B, 2 RBI), Madison Holcomb and AnneMarie Berg (RBI) all had two hits, Karsyn Snyder tripled and drove in a run and Brynn Sendelbach singled and drove in a run.Sendelbach started in the circle and went the first 2 1/3 innings. Velasquez only gave up a single hit and struck out seven. Rubel, Raiders boot WoodmoreELMORE – Lakota scored at least one run in five of the seven innings it batted Wednesday, but the final two innings were the most important.After trailing 5-4 through five innings, Lakota tallied two runs in the sixth and seventh frames to pull out an 8-5 SBC River win.Chevelle Rubel was a big part of the win as she lined three doubled and drove in four runs for the Raiders (7-5, 4-4 SBC River). They also got two singles and two RBIs by Mya Stoudinger, two singles and an RBI from Sophia Bomer, a single and an RBI from Lexi Moon and a double by Savanah Vestal.Bomer was the winning pitcher as she went all seven innings in the circle, giving up five runs on nine hits. Streaks start fastFREMONT – It was all about the start for Fremont St. Joe and the lack of one for Old Fort Wednesday. St. Joe raced out to a 10-2 lead after three innings and that's how it stayed until the end of the game as the Streaks picked up a SBC River win.Old Fort (1-11, 0-7) compiled six hits as Abbi Ward, Ellie Skeels, Lucy King, Gabby Perez, Claire Hunker (RBI) and Autumn Skeels all singled.Mylee Sebetto suffered the loss in the circle. She allowed 10 runs on 11 hits in six innings.
