Seneca County Young Adventurers – Cookin' in the Kitchen – 5 p.m. Monday, May 5 at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, 6777 S. OH-19, Bloomville. For ages 5 to 12 years. Join Linda Rose as we explore mud kitchen making a variety of new recipes. Will it be dirt ball soup or twig pie? Dress to get a little dirty and join the creativity! Backpackin' Babies – Sensory Play – 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Mercy Community Nature Preserve, 45 St. Lawrence Dr., Tiffin. For ages birth to 18 months. Babies need the great outdoors as much as older youth and adults do. They need the exposure to fresh air, new environments and learn more than we think. Spend the afternoon with Linda Rose looking and learning about the woods—feel the leaves, squish the mud, roll over a log and so much more. Come in a front pack, backpack, stroller or just walk. Mother-Daughter Outdoor Day – 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, 6777 S. OH-19, Bloomville. Spend the morning canoeing/kayaking, hiking, journaling, fishing and learning open fire cooking. All ages of mother/daughter/grand-daughter welcome. Crawford County Face to Face: Turtles – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. Meet the turtle ambassadors of the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center up close. You'll be able to touch some of Ohio's native turtles, from the Woodland Box Turtle to the Midland Painted Turtle, and learn how they survive in their habitats. Little Explorers: Flowers – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. This interactive program for children ages 0–5 focuses on sensory stimulation and fine motor skill development. This month's theme is flowers! Bird Banding – 7 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. Join Bob Placier for a morning of science. Banding is used to monitor bird populations. This event coincides with the pancake breakfast. Pancakes in the Park – 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 OH-598, Crestline. For a donation, enjoy pancakes with maple syrup, ham from Carle's Bratwurst, and help support the park district. Hancock County Recycling: Open House – 1–4 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Oakwoods Nature Preserve, Discovery Center, 1400 Oakwood Ave., Findlay. Learn how to recycle and bring plastic lids and bottle caps for a 4-H project to create benches and tables. Explore rugged, less-traveled park terrain and look for spring wildflowers. Quilted Potholders – 5:30–7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Carter Historic Farm, 18331 Carter Rd., Bowling Green. Learn quilting basics by hand and machine to make potholders. Registration required by May 6.
