Senecas dominate at Dick Schultz Invite

BASCOM — Emily Miller captured two individual races, anchored a winning relay and took second in a sprint Friday to fuel Calvert's dominating girls title run at the Hopewell-Loudon Dick Schultz Invitational.The Senecas cruised past Delta 153 1/2-106 for the crown, followed by Hopewell-Loudon (88 1/2), Lakota (78), Gibsonburg (75), Buckeye Central (69), Northwood (33), Bucyrus (29) and New Riegel (27).Miller claimed the 400 (59.9) and 800 (2:28.5) and anchored the winning 4x400 (4:16.25), and added a second in the 100 (13.08).Karris Marinis, Shelby Michaels and Avery Elchert joined her on the 4x400.Calvert also won five other events.Farrah Gaulden claimed the 100 hurdles (16.95), Rylan Perry took the 300 hurdles (51.94) and Marinis captured the long jump (15-10 1/4).Braelynn Maiberger, Perry and Elchert also helped the Senecas win the 4x200 (1:52.75) and 4x100 (53.67). TC boys 8th at St. Francis RelaysTOLEDO – Columbian senior Jack Newlove set a meet record in the 300 hurdles Friday night leading the tornadoes to an eight-place showing at the St. Francis Relays.Newlove finished in a time of 37.54 seconds.TC placed eighth overall as a team with 46 points.Xavier Matthewson was fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.39), while the 4x4 relay (3:28.69) team of DaShawn Russell, Newlove, Xavier Melick and Hayden Miller was also fourth and Russell finished fifth in the 400 (52.45).Ethan Reynolds had the longest toss in the shot put (52-10 ½) and Owen Hickey was fourth in the high jump (5-10). Tornadoes compete at WhitmerTOLEDO – Columbian had a solid showing amongst bigger schools and competition Friday night at Toledo Whitmer's Nancy Ermes Relays.There were no team scores uploaded and all field events were scored as relay events, but were not uploaded as relays. TC's 800 sprint medley relay was second (1:53.75), while the 4x4 relay was fourth (4:20.20), the 4x1 shuttle hurdle relay took third (1:13.27), Makiah Gurney placed fourth in the 800 (2:26.15), Grace Blonde crossed the line fifth in the 3,200 (12:07.49), the 4x8 relay was sixth (10:48.82), while the 4x1 was also sixth (52.30) and Carmen Lewis placed sixth in the 1,600 (5:35.31).
